Attraction Marketing – what does it mean?
Well, we’ve all heard how the internet is so fast paced, things change every day and what worked 6 months ago is now old hat.
What you might not have noticed is that the internet is starting to grow up. Gone are the easy days where you could get a product, slap up a web page, get some traffic and make a ton of sales. Internet users have read so many over hyped sales letters and been subject to so many high pressure sales tactics, that they’ve got wiser, and don’t fall for these tactics so easily any more.
That’s where attraction marketing comes in.
It’s nothing new, it’s been used by the MLM/Network marketing community for years. But now mainstream internet marketers are realising it’s so effective at building long lasting relationships with prospects and leads, that’s it’s time to jump on the bandwagon.
So what exactly is attraction marketing?
To put it as simply as possible it’s all about giving value to your customers, before trying to sell them anything so they can get to know, like, and trust you. Once you’ve built that kind of relationship it becomes quite natural for people to buy from you. The reason is because they already know you provide value so your products must be valuable also.
Why isn’t everyone doing it then?
Well for any business with a big budget, paid advertising is still one of the most effective ways to make sales. But for many small business who don’t have a large advertising budget, free marketing methods are a necessity.
Attraction marketing takes longer to get results, but it can be more valuable than paid advertising in the long term, just because of the rapport you have with your customers.
How do you go about using attraction marketing?
Actually you’re probably already using it but might not have been aware of it. It’s all about Facebook, Twitter, blogging, forums and any other Social Media you can think of.
But once again, you can’t just go onto Facebook for example, and just try and sell to everybody. You need to give them value through helpful information and advice, take part in conversations, give your opinion and so on.
Your main aim is to add value, make contacts you wouldn’t make otherwise, but above all come across as a real person. It’s often been said that people don’t buy products, they buy people. So people are much more likely to buy from you if they already know and like you.
Attraction marketing is a continual process and over time you will build a large online presence which helps to build your authority. With the authority you gain, gradually you’ll start to be recognised as a leader in your industry, someone people turn to for help and advice, and obviously to buy your products.
