In part I of “Identifying your markets in network marketing” we presented you with the idea of three distinct markets available to you this industry. Often overlooked due to some of the misconceptions being taught by many in this industry. My goal is to broaden your awareness of these markets with the hope that you can and will become as successful as possible, financially. And, in future articles, I would also like to present you with reasonable ideas on how to approach those markets. Keeping in mind that these markets may not be as easy to identify as you may think, given that none of us can read minds. We really have no way of knowing what’s in the heart of another individual or what makes them tick. Instead, it is to our best interest to develop a better understanding of people. In other words, “people skills”. Why do they do what they do and so on.
As suggested in part I, in conventional business, your market would be a simple matter of finding a need or emotion and then filling that need or emotion. For example, if someone needed a car and you sell cars, get the car and the person together and you’ve got a sale. Most of the time. Or clothes, or food, and so on. There’s the need, and usually there’s a store around to fill that need.
But in MLM it’s not quit that simple to identify that market.
If you have been in networking for a while, you were probably taught the same old methods everyone else has been teaching for a hundred years. “If they’re breathing, they’re a prospect”. While there is some bit of truth in that approach, in this modern day and age of unlimited knowledge, I just got to believe that people are smarter than that. So I’m not going to insult you with any sort of comment about that long forgotten approach. There are three markets available in the MLM business as a whole. In this article, let’s take a look at one of those markets.
1) People who are just sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Ever heard that one before? Or have you ever watched someone who is just plain burnt out? Better yet, have you ever tried to carry on a conversation with someone who’s in that sort of a “rut”?
Everything is wrong with everyone and everything. Nothing ever goes their way. It’s either too hot or it’s too cold, The world is gonna end tomorrow. Whoa is me. The problem with this constant complaining mental attitude, is that if you are around it long enough, you will find yourself agreeing with them. And before you know it, you are in the same old “rut” they’re in. Avoid it at all cost.
There is a good chance that if you can get this type of person to slow down long enough and analyze where they are, in their job, their marriage (maybe), and so on, there is that possibility they would be respective to your MLM opportunity. Be careful to offer your opportunity and not stick your nose somewhere it doesn’t need to be, by asking too many personal questions.
Remember, at this point you are not their up-line counselor. You are a friend offering an alternative.
Pay close attention to those around you in your job, where you shop, and so on. Ask the right questions for the needed response. And you may be amazed. Just ask “how’s it going?”
