It seems so simple- design an attractive website with content so impressive that even the most unlikely buyer would be convinced to make a purchase. This is all you need to do to make gazillions of dollars online according to the content in the e-Book you bought from some alleged internet marketing guru. Unfortunately, this is not reality. Reality is that in order to drive traffic to your website, you need to put a focus on off-site optimization as well- including writing SEO articles such as this.
Off-site optimization includes everything from Social Media marketing to Social Bookmarking to link building. For this lesson, I am going to focus on two traffic driving methods- writing SEO articles and niche marketing- that make an effective tag team combination.
Niche Marketing:
It is important to locate a market that is not overly saturated or you will find that standing out amongst the competition is quite the uphill battle. A smart entrepreneur will condense their ideas by marketing towards a more specific audience that is still large enough to make for a profitable business.
For example, starting an online travel website that offers every imaginable travel service to virtually any destination might turn out to be a colossal failure given the competition from websites that are established and have hundreds of thousands of dollars at their disposal to invest in internet marketing. However, a better niche would be to sell European cruises or something along those lines.
How Niche Marketing and SEO Articles go hand in hand:
Article marketing is one of the best ways to promote your site online but it does require an understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) because the goal of the article is to get it ranked high on Google for profitable keywords. If it does rank well and the article is of value to the readers, you can expect many of them to click on your URL to learn more about your products or services.
SEO articles should be written about something related to your specific niche. Going back to the travel website example above, writing an article about places to visit in Europe would be of value to readers in your niche. It ties in quite well with selling European cruises. Writing an article about how much you love to travel might entertain thousands of people, but it won’t necessarily be those that are interested in what you are selling.
A final word on off-site optimization:
The above advice will do you very little good if you are unwilling to put the consistent effort into it. All of your off-site internet marketing techniques should be a part of your daily routine. Writing articles frequently, posting on your blog multiple times per week, and updating your social bookmarking sites daily are essential to driving traffic to your website. Either put in the countless hours required to make these strategies work or hire someone that will.
