You get bombarded with 100 emails a day with some marketer giving you the ‘inside scoop’ to their new traffic source, claiming that this is finally the one. This traffic source will trump all other traffic sources, and no one even knows about it yet. Well, I’m here to tell you that sticking with a tried and true traffic source, in addition to working your butt off, will yield you the best results day in and day out. In this article, I’m going to give you the top 3 reasons why ‘old faithful’ (article marketing) should be your favorite traffic source.
1. Article marketing produces some of the highest quality leads online – When you want to refine anything, what do you do? You filter stuff out. The more times you filter something, the more refined that something is. Online traffic is no different. Traditional online marketing strategies, like pay per click, have a very small filtering process. Basically someone reads an ad, which is purely based off keywords, and if someone likes the ad, they click on it and go to the landing page. That’s really a 1-step filtering process. Article marketing on the other hand is completely different. To actually get to the landing page, the reader first must find the article and decide to read it, they must actually read the article, they must actually like your writing style and relate to you, they must actually believe you can help them with their problems, and they must actually click on your link. That’s a lot of filtering just to get to your landing page. So by the time they do land on your website, they are much more highly qualified to like and trust you compared to traditional marketing strategies.
2. Article marketing is a ‘set it and forget it’ approach – The beautiful aspect of article marketing is that you only have to write an article once, but the article will remain online forever and keep working for you forever. I really like the concept of only having to work once on something to reap the benefits for life. On the other hand, pay per click marketing is just like a water faucet. When you turn the faucet on, meaning you put money into your marketing, you get leads right away. But as soon as you stop putting money into pay per click, or you turn the faucet off, you stop getting leads. That doesn’t happen with article marketing.
3. Article marketing positions you as an expert and leader in your industry – One of the benefits of publishing content online is that your name starts propagating itself throughout the web. The more your name goes viral, the more the search engines will look at you as someone whom they should send targeted traffic to. Think about it. If you have 2 people in the exact same industry, where one person has 100 pieces of content online and the other person has 100,000 pieces of content online, who do you think will get the most traffic, assuming all things are equal?
