When it comes to making money with your blog, one of the easiest and fastest ways of seeing dollars in your bank account is to incorporate affiliate marketing into the mix.
Affiliate marketing is a billion dollar industry – back in 2006, for example, affiliates earned $6.5 billion in commissions and other extras! Imagine what that number is like today, 6 years later!
With such a vast empire online, affiliate marketing is a popular and very lucrative business for website owners.
Since I also am an affiliate marketer, I came up with these affiliate marketing tips to help grow your affiliate marketing campaigns.
Affiliate Marketing Tips
Do you have a newsletter subscription form on your blog? When you get a new subscriber, offer them a unique coupon code or a discount on something special. Newsletter subscribers should be given extra treats, even treats that you are not giving out on your blog – They have taken the effort to fill out your form and hit submit. If you treat them well, you will be handsomely rewarded.
Rotate your offers in your sidebars. This keeps your regular readers engaged. Regular readers are coming to your blog often, maybe every day. If you change out the offers you have on your sidebars, they are more likely to catch their eye and click on the offer.
Test your ad copy. If you write blog posts for your affiliate offers, you will notice that some will convert, while other will not. This is an indication that something needs tweaking. Change around your copy – sometimes even the slightest change can greatly alter your outcome. For example, I wrote a sales page a while back that was converting pretty well, I thought. One day, I changed around the picture and the text and Whoa! My conversion rate doubled! So, testing and revising is crucial.
Be “in the know.” Affiliate marketing is all about marketing the right product at the right time. Staying up to date on developments in your niche can mean the difference between jumping on the boat and completely missing it. If there is a new product coming out that would fit in with your website or blog, then jump on it – Start marketing it so you can back up the claim of being “first to know!”
Offer a bonus. I’ve mentioned this before, but bonuses may be just the thing to completely skyrocket your income. Even if you are “first to know” of a new product or service, offer a bonus for people to buy from you. People love free stuff. And especially if you are marketing something that has been out for a while – give away a bonus and your readers will buy from you versus someone else who’s not.
Above all, get creative with your marketing efforts. Take a look at what you are doing now and see how you can make it better – what can you change or move or rewrite? Sometimes just looking at your site with a critical eye can be enlightening.
