Coffs Harbour’s tourism industry is a lively trade. The city’s population of 700,000 rises to new heights of up to 800,000 during the peak seasons. Tourists, fortunately, won’t have difficulty getting around, thanks to the convenient and well-organized public transport services provided in the city. This place is also easily accessible from other places in Australia.
The primary form of local transport in Coffs Harbour is the bus. Bus services such as Busways, Ryans Bus Service, and Sawtell Coaches travel all around the place and the area surrounding it. There is also a coach service that runs along the eastern coast to reach the harbour. The Busways service runs through Macksville, Bowraville, Nambucca Heads, Urunga, then to Coffs Harbour. There are also routes that run from Bellingen, from Macksville to Valla Beach or to Scotts Head, and from Park Beach Plaza through Pacific Highway, the Jetty, Frances Street, or the western areas.
Ryans Bus Services, on the other hand, offers frequent trips going to Coffs Harbour’s northern suburbs. Sawtell Coaches Services has more varied routes, one from Boambee that passes through Pacific Highway, the CBD, and the Coffs Harbour Showground, another from Boambee through the Airport, the Botanical Gardens, and the CBD, and a third route starting at Sawtell, Botanical Gardens, CBD, and the Showground. Weekend trips, however, are less frequent.
There are also inter-city and interstate bus services coming from Sydney and Melbourne going, so you can easily get from one place to another if you are touring Australia. But if you want to get around comfortably, you can also ride taxis operated by Coffs Harbour Taxi Cab Network.
To get there, you can either come by air or by rail service. There is a train service operated by Countrylink Railway Services. The trains stop at Coffs Harbour Railway Station. In one day, six trains stop there, three are northbound and the other three are southbound.
If you are flying in, you will land at Coffs Harbour Regional Airport, a local airport that serves the entire area. The regular flights that land there are operated by Virgin Blue and Qantas. If you are leaving, you can get to the passenger terminal by taking Hogbin Drive.
You also have the option to rent a car or van in case you want to drive yourself around. Car rentals such as Avis and Budget are widely offered in the city. And if you are looking for adventure, you can also rent campervans so you can experience the city in a unique way.
