Any time you hear something too good to be true, it usually isn’t. Such are the claims made about Internet Marketing. “Buy this product and you will become a millionaire after just a few clicks of the mouse!” It’s enough to make you absolutely nauseous. The most annoying part of these type of ad campaigns is that it tarnishes the idea of affiliate marketing. Internet marketing in and of itself, is NOT a scam. It is a legitimate business opportunity. Secondly, it is nowhere near as easy as these advertisements make it seem.
Affiliate marketing takes work. Hard work. Not heavy lifting, break your back work, but hard work none the less. It is absolutely impossible to have your website at the top of the search engines in just a couple of clicks. Regardless of this fact, it is still being promoted as an automatic ticket to wealth. There are many good tools out there available for purchase. Affiliate start-up packages, SEO plugins, article spinners, you name it. They all have their place and the potential to help. The scam isn’t necessarily the products, it’s the way in which they are promoted. False hope. If there were a product out there that generated instant wealth, the whole system would come crashing down.
Think about it. If someone came up with a system to guarantee winning lottery numbers, everyone and their brother would be jumping in on the opportunity. Pretty soon, everyone would have winning tickets. The jackpot would be diluted. Now I’m not saying that succeeding in affiliate marketing is as rare as winning the lottery. It is in fact very possible to succeed. It’s just not a winning lottery ticket. So as soon as someone purchases one of these affiliate start-up programs, and in a week they’re not millionaires, they get frustrated and affiliate marketing gets labeled a scam. Who can blame them. That’s the way it’s being promoted.
Like I said before, affiliate marketing is not a scam. It is a business. Some marketers do well enough to achieve Wal-Mart status while others may not get any higher than corner store. The corner store owner is still able to make a living. These affiliate marketing programs are just tools. Some work better than others, but tools none the less. If an aspiring affiliate marketer goes into it without this knowledge, they stand in great danger of falling flat on they’re face. The tools only work in the hands of someone who knows how to use them.
The business of affiliate marketing grows the same way we grow. We need food in order to grow and we have to work to provide the food. Vitamins and supplements can aid in our overall well-being, but it is still the food that we work for that enables us to keep growing. A business needs traffic to grow, and we have to work in order to generate that traffic. Affiliate marketing software can help in the overall health and well-being of our business, but it is still the traffic that we work for that causes the growth.
