Does affiliate marketing work? The short answer is yes, the problem is getting it to work. I am convinced affiliate marketing is a successful business model, it is a very large very wealthy industry. However the sad fact is that 95% of the people that embark on an affiliate marketing career will see no success, and give up. So the question is how do you make sure you are in the 5% who prosper, and make a business in this exciting industry?
As a beginner looking at internet affiliate marketing as a potential online money-maker, the fact is you have made a great decision. There has never been an industry that allows everyone the same chance of success. Anyone can become an affiliate, it’s free and there are none of the heavy start-up costs associated with traditional business, in fact there is no reason you can’t start now. You could have your first campaign up and running within a day with almost zero cost to you.
Unfortunately it is this small commitment level that leads to one of the reasons for the high failure rate. If you don’t have to stump up your own hard-earned cash, then in many peoples minds they place no value on their business, and they fail to treat their fledgling business seriously. It certainly concentrates the mind and makes you put in the effort if you have a large cash investment hinging on your success or failure. However you must get past this, as your business, even though it cost very little it is potentially worth an awful lot.
The other main reason for the high failure rate is information overload. There are thousands of websites, e-books, publications, and courses available to teach the ins and outs of affiliate marketing. A new method or re-hashed book seems to come along daily. There are many who just keep buying new secret method after new secret method, and never taking action on any of them.
You do need training when you begin, as you would with any other new business venture. However once you have settled on a path that you like, there is nothing more important than taking action. However there is one more stumbling block that makes up the rest of the 95% failure rate in affiliate marketing, and this is the marketers who fail to be consistent, and give up before they see any results.
As we know the answer to the question, does affiliate marketing work, is a resounding yes. However very few new campaigns see immediate success. That isn’t to say they wont go on and be successful, as lots of them will, the key is consistency and perseverance.
Take action, choose your path, and keep at it, and don’t become discouraged. In no time you will be joining the 5% who make it in affiliate marketing. Good luck.
