Which type of email marketer can you be; which are you now?

Email marketers, are generally on all our lists in one of three basic categories, yes, three. There’s the clueless, the bad, and the good email marketer, all vying for your attention, all having a different way of going about getting your attention. The bad are pretty much just those, evil to the core, they spend the whole day sending out massive amounts of emails, and care very little for the damage they do. The clueless, well, they usually mean good, in fact, most clueless email marketing professionals have been in marketing for years, they’re just new to email marketing. So how do I become a good email marketer, you may be asking? Let’s take a look at a few etiquette considerations, shall we.

Ask permission

One of the most important things a good email-marketing specialist does, ask permission. Why? Because people have to pay for each email they receive from you, (ie. ISP, Bandwidth, etc.) Therefore, you should consider asking permission before you send offers to people’s inboxes.

Build a List of Your Own

Having your own Optin list can save you both time, and money. What do I mean? If you build your own list, you can pre-program offers, and messages in your autoresponder, which is programmed to send out your important information. It will also save you money, and the time it takes to wade through bad addresses you get when you purchase them from an email marketing service provider. Plus you have the added benefit of your own list of customers who are already expecting offers from you.

Know the Laws

It is important that you read up on the laws, and stay current with any changes. By studying and knowing the laws, you will not only help yourself, by not breaking them, but, also keep a potential recipient from putting you on the bad list.

Don’t Bombard Your Recipients

One of the worst things anyone can find is about 20 pieces of email, all from the same sender. Controlling your bursts, maybe say, two, or even one per day, or better, per week would be good. You don’t want to make the mistake of making people tired of seeing your messages. Setup your autoresponder, so that it sends messages in a timely manner, you can structure the order and frequency of messages, that way, they send only at certain times, and in a direct order.

Remember, the simplest bit of information can be critical to your success or failure. Be thorough, be read.
