If you are looking for information on flea market merchandise then you are going to get all my years of experience added into this short article.

I have to be very blunt and honest with you here at the beginning of this report as I feel that it is important for me to help you as best as I can. The reason I say that I have to be blunt is that most flea market traders tend to take advice badly. I know that you are going to tell me that you are not the type to not listen to really great advice, and I would tend to agree with you as you have gone to the trouble of searching for more information about flea market things.

I offer you the 20 years of my personal history on a very large variety of flea markets and craft markets on which I traded full-time over that period. Now I would be the first to say that a lot of this information that I am about to give you here I did not apply myself in the beginning years of my trading efforts. Being that I arrived at the flea markets with a business history I was the type that tended to think that I knew a lot more than the regular flea market exhibitor.

Remember that I am still presuming that you are searching for more information on flea market merchandise and that you are hunting for leads and clues to find things like cheaper job lots, or find drop shippers or auction items that you could resell – and now you have run headlong into my lecture – sorry. But I feel that it would be amiss if I did not impart these next few items about selling flea market merchandise at the flea markets.

No matter what product you are selling on the flea markets the craft markets or the trade shows there are some rules that apply to the lot.

1. Have the biggest amount of stock that you can possibly transport to the market. I promise you that even if you knew that you will only sell 50 of an item, you must still take 1000 of them if you want the greatest sales possible. Tried and tested many times, just do it!

2. Never look bored or tired. A client or buyer that pitches up at you booth and sees a long sad or miserable face is very likely to keep on going and not buy from you. After awhile you will find that you really will need to have a sad face. Stop doing it, I have noticed how traders get together in little clumps to complain about everything under the sun. Idiots!

3. Look Very busy all the time. I will guarantee you a 30% rise in your turnover if you spent the entire day repacking and tidying up your booth or stall. The very sight of a caring trader is likely to make a buyer believe that if you like to keep your product dust free and tidy, there is likelihood that you have a quality item. Try to do this outside of your trading area, almost as if you were just a visitor yourself – as this will allow a possible buyer to relax and not feel threatened or pressured into looking at what you have to offer. Staring at a client as they walk towards you table is the easiest way to keep them moving along.

4. Be very happy. I have proven that a cheerful and smiling seller is going to attract a crowd just because it looks like the place where the most fun is likely to be at. At times in the past I have takes up to 5 times more cash from three-day show that all my opposition – just by having a continually happy crowd gathered around my stall and enjoying themselves.

5. This next point might not be totally true to all types of products at a flea market but here it is. Have some very expensive and very large versions of whatever you sell at you stall. For example if you sell dresses, have one or two that are 5 or 10 times the price, and feature them. Do not make the pricing ridiculous, but let the bargain seekers get a fright when they ask for that price, then they will be very relieved to hear the prices of all your regular items, and will not likely try to get you to cut your normal prices down even further.

6. I should have mentioned this one first, but I have never been one to do things in the correct order. But I hope that you realize the importance of doing the correct research on which product to sell in the first place. The more popular items that you find on a flea market can easily outsell the mundane ones by very large margins. Then if you apply the correct methods of displaying your goods and the correct selling techniques, there can be no reason your stall is not the most profitable one on the entire market.

I could keep on giving you great advise forever, but remember this one as the most important – GO BIG!
