When I first got started out in internet marketing, I had no clue as to what to do. I was a TRUE beginner and in my early career of internet marketing, I did a lot of things wrong, and even angered a few people. Since then my knowledge of internet marketing has evolved like a super-advanced alien race, and I understand the internet marketing world much better than I did before. I even have clients now asking for my advice.
But I made a lot of mistakes early on – mistakes that you don’t have to go through. In today’s lesson, I’m going to share with you some of the mistakes that I have made in my early internet marketing career, and how you can avoid these mistakes so you can have a straight path to profitability. Here’s the first thing that you will want to avoid.
1) Forum spamming
This is a BIG no-no. Other forum members will think of you as an idiot, and your account (and even IP address) will be banned. Once you’ve found a good forum to enter into, you want to become a person who is distilling a lot of helpful information to others. The more high quality your information is, the more people will view you as an expert in your niche. Plus, you will get a lot more sales if you continue to post on the forum each and every day.
Here’s something else that you will want to avoid:
2) Chat room spamming
When I was college, I didn’t know anything about internet marketing. So I used the only medium that knew well that had a lot of members in it (and also a lot of girls)… chat rooms. I remember one night going into an AOL chat room, and just plastering my website address in huge letters all over the chat room.
I had people posting mean and hurtful things to me on there, and within 2 minutes, someone did a DNS Lookup on my website, and posted my mailing address in the chat room. I was so embarrassed and scared. I immediately got of the chat room and it was the last time EVER that I used a chat room. Here’s something else to avoid:
3) Not having more than 1 traffic source
If you put all your eggs in one basket, what will you do when the basket falls and all of the eggs get cracked open? You will lose your entire business virtually overnight. To avoid this, seek out other marketing strategies that can bring you sales immediately. You have a whole arsenal of them available to you.
You have YouTube marketing, article marketing, social marketing, pay per click advertising, blog commenting, and so much more strategies. With these kind of strategies, it’s easy to pick of few and work on those few each and every day. Internet marketing takes a lot of work, and those people who say they only spend 2 hours a week on their business all while making $6,000 a month… my guess is that they’re heavy in using advertising.
These 3 things are something that you will want to totally avoid if you want to make money right away in your online business. The more you focus on them and start putting them into action, the sooner you’ll be able to get your hands on the profits that you deserve.
