If you are an Internet Marketing Newbie, you have heard that there are many ways to start your new internet business for little or no money down, and you are wondering which methods work best and will give you the best return for your dollar. Here are a few methods I successfully used when I was an Internet Marketing newbie.
Article Marketing
The first and foremost technique that an Internet Marketing Newbie should master is Article Marketing. This is the technique that has the power to sail your boat for a long time. So what is the most effective way to use this method?
The way this one works is this. You write articles to drive traffic to either a landing page on your own domain, a webpage you created using free services like Squidoo or Hubpages, or directly to the merchant’s sales page. Although the best option is to have your traffic go from your articles to a landing page you created either on your own domain or on Squidoo, but there is an option for forwarding your domain which I will talk about a little later. So what are the things to keep in mind with this technique?
1. Write quality articles: You may have read at many places that you should just start writing and it will come. That it does not matter what you write, just write something. I would recommend that you certainly do not take too much time writing one article but please write something that will make a difference to the reader. Write from your heart even if you are using the data you found in other articles. Try to help the reader before you expect them to give you a click. Plus, having an informative, well written article not only gives you authority in the eyes of the reader, it also increases the chances of your article being picked up by publishers to put on their sites thus increasing your reach and giving you more backlinks.
2. Write a lot: It is ideal to focus on one campaign a month when you are new. If you have started a blog, you can write two articles every day and make a blog post every alternate day and point your articles to that particular post that day. It is like creating a chain of shops. If you have few shops, you will sell less, if you have more, you will do better. So the more articles you have spread all over the internet, the more visitors you will get to your landing page and the more your chances of making a sale. I say, write two articles a day for the whole month and you should have a good stream of traffic to make some good sales and run on auto-pilot for a while.
3. Submit and Bookmark: Submit one article in the morning and one in the evening to EzineArticles and submit versions of it to other directories once the ezine one is published. Do not submit the same article over and over. Submit to as many good directories as you can. You can find out more about automating the process on my blog. Then make sure you book mark to at least three social book marking sites every time your article is published or make a new post.
4. Write good resource boxes: If you can research a little about persuasive article writing, then do so and make your resource box count.
Squidoo and Hubpages
There are many other services like these for an Internet Marketing Newbie and you can find them by doing a little bit of research but try not to do too many things at one time. This way you will spread yourself too thin and that is never good. Pick one or both out of Squidoo and Hubpages and make a lens by combining the information in many of your articles. Add relevant videos from YouTube or make your own and lots of interesting pictures and graphics. If you are using this as your landing page, make sure to include many outbound links here so the reader will know where to get your product. If not, send them to the blog or landing page. In the second case, make sure to point 3-4 articles to your lens also.
UsFreeAds
This is one of the quickest ways to put out your links on the web. It takes about 15 minutes to place an ad on UsFreeAds and with their high traffic and awesome page rank you have a great chance of getting some good targeted traffic to your landing page or send them directly to the merchant’s page. It costs less than $10 a month to use their service but if you made one sale a month from it, you have already made that up and may be more.
Forums and Blog comments
Forums are a great place to hang out and find out what people are talking about and respond to them. Once you do some good work in a forum, you can drop your links and invite people to check out what you are recommending.
Other people’s blogs are also a good place to get yourself noticed. Read their posts, make some comments now and then, but please be sincere. Believe me if you just comment for the heck of it without reading or caring for their post, they will know it and you will be blocked before you know it. So make friends, be helpful and people will love to find out what you are doing.
YouTube
If you haven’t heard it yet, you will hear it loud and clear in the near future that article marketing is going to be obsolete, because video article marketing is the new wave that is going to take over. While it is true that videos are more watched than articles, don’t take this literally. I would say however that you might want to incorporate video articles in your business plan. It is easy to convert your article to videos if you have access to MS PowerPoint. So do it and do it for every article you write.
I talked about forwarding your domain to the merchant’s page. All this means is that when someone goes to a domain name you own, they will actually be forwarded to the merchant’s sales page. Why you say? Well, many article directories like EzineArticles do not allow you to use hoplinks here. So you have to create a landing page to send your traffic to. Well, if you do not feel confident to build landing pages yet, or for any other reason, do not have a landing page for a certain product you are promoting, you can buy a domain name that is relevant to the product and put that in your resource box. So when the reader clicks on your link which is a domain name not a hoplink, they will end up at the merchant’s sales page.
