Perth’s central business district sits on the banks of the Swan River to the south and east; with Kings Park to the west and Northbridge to the- that’s right- north. The area features excellent shopping and cultural opportunities. The famous Hay and Murray St Malls, the state museum, library and art gallery are within a few short blocks of one another. The mining boom has stimulated plenty of construction and development in Perth’s CBD. In particular the council has budgeted for upgrading St George Terrace, the main commercial street in Perth. Plans to enhance street level access from the CBD to Northbridge, blocked for 100 years by the rail system, are also underway.
