Organizing your email-marketing plan is as essential, as it would be, if you were putting together a traditional marketing plan. Steps need to be designed, or thought out, a process should be created, and a market analysis should be completed, so that you understand the market you’re entering, and the message you should be sending. Organizing your email marketing campaign will also afford you the ability to setup your autoresponder with powerful messages, geared towards higher conversion rates, rather than sending random email blasts.

The number one reason, for success or failure, with an email-marketing plan is the list selection. What many people fail to realize, is that the optin list, should not be used for just emailing any kind of update, or information, or offer for that matter. You should get to know what it is those on your list likes. What you can do, is group past clients into categories, based on their past selection of services or products. Your autoresponder selections should be based on those demographics, if you will, and sent only to those, to whom the information may be relevant. If you can think of any reason others would be interested in the product offering, or information, then by all means send it to them as well.

Make sure to plan your email sequence, don’t be one of those marketers that send once, and expect sudden success. Use your email marketing service wisely, after setting up your optin categories, tailor your messages accordingly, in sequence, so that the messages can be sent out more than once. Spread the messages out in days, two to five days apart should suffice. What this will do, is to make sure your messages are read, but will not send enough to irritate your client-base, where as, sending once could get your message deleted, or overlooked.

Creating follow up emails is a great way to stay connected to your clients; while you’re busy planning your campaign, find ways to create personalized responses to inquiries. Be sure to respond to any email you are able to, personally, just to add that human touch to your email marketing. While an autoresponder can generate appropriate responses based on FAQs you’ve already answered, you should be prepared for questions that are not pre-determined by the FAQ compilation. You will quickly realize the value, as your clients share their testimony about your great customer service.
