So why would this be important, well quite simply to enable you to maintain focus on your dreams and desires. Without this you will be like a boat with no rudder, having a general idea of where you would like to go but with no means of getting there, and hence leading to you failing to achieve the desired result

1.How will you determine what niche you wish to promote from? Will it be based upon your interests alone, if so is this enough?
(Although having an interest can be important, you need to know whether the market is a popular and profitable one, and whether it is saturated with competition, hence just having the interest may not be enough in itself)
2.Does your niche allow for both physical and digital products or one of these choices only?
3.Have you decided where and which affiliate program you will choose? (Two of the most popular choices are Click bank and Commission Junction)
4.Do you understand what you need to look for in an affiliate program to be worthwhile to you?
5.Are you aware of the tools that the merchant should be providing you with?
6.Will you just promote with your affiliate link to the merchants page or do you want to develop a long-term business with your own list as an asset for future promoting?.
7.Do you possess the technical expertise to purchase a domain, arrange hosting, build a squeeze page, integrate opt in forms and have it plugged in ready to go with an auto responder to collect your visitors names and addresses? .
8.Have you considered your follow up email campaigns and how to proceed with loading these into your auto responder?
The above points are not meant to represent a comprehensive list of all the issues involved, but goes some way to illustrating the importance of having some form of affiliate marketing strategy in place before you begin so you can measure what you have in place and what else you need to achieve.
At first glance has with anything in life initially all this may appear daunting, and it would be understandable for you to think where do I begin, should I begin at all! The reality is that all of this is possible and can be learned by any one, yes there is a steep learning curve but it is possible and definitely achievable. The term knowledge is power is no truer than conducting business on the internet. You will then find that you have the skills to evaluate the opportunity in front of you and have a better understanding of the skills you need to possess to make it easier for you to proceed with those opportunities.
